Elder Scrolls Online
« on: January 26, 2014, 04:34:01 PM »

Good evening all,
as the ESO beta gets into full swing, with an announced release date of April 4, 2014, how many of you are planning on playing? Should we open a new forum for ESO and prepare for guilding?

Let us know.

I've been keeping my eye on it.  I really enjoyed Skyrim and am hoping they do a good job translating it to an MMO.  Haven't received a beta invite yet though :(.

I'm probably going to skip ESO.
I can't justify the monthly $15. As much as i like Tamriel and it's lore, this just doesn't 'grab' me.

If I would have participated in a beta, I couldn't tell youfor reasons that would be obvious to most on these forums. I'm not as hopeful as Nidrew though. Imho, it's very hard to make an Elder Scrolls MMO. Elder Scrolls games where always about the lone hero, the once-in-a-lifetime agent of destiny. A server full of them would really break immersion.

Plus, I don't think the great difference in price and content between the standard and the deluxe edition of the game is going to help either. Basically, you have to pay 25 dollars/Euro to be able to play as an Imperial and/or to craft Imperial gear. It's the kind of B.S. you previously only saw in F2P games. Only this time it's a P2P game. And at a price of 55 Euro + monthly fee for the standard version, a pretty expensive one at that.

edit: because my memory was not as good as I thought it was

If some of my former professors would know I assumed something about the contents of that-which-shall-not-be-named without checking first, they'd probably give me a failing grade retroactively.  One in particular would probably tell Zenimax to place me last in line and send him a photo of the whole spectacle, so he can use it as a instruction material for his current victi..I mean students...in his lesson about what happens to people who don't pay attention in his class... :)

As far as the OP is concerned I don't know if I will have the spare time to justify paying a monthly fee right now for a MMO. Witch sucks because that special edition they just announced today looks pretty sweet. AND the new trailer is pretty bad ass to. Not that a shiny new trailer makes the game any better.

From what I can see, this is not the "next level" MMO we may all be waiting for. They are taking a world with a following, and a rich history, and making it an MMO in a similar fashion as the venerable UO (still alive and kicking!). That being said, it is new territory and I like exploration so I will definitely be preordering and playing... Although they need to stop releasing MMO's in the Spring (I get busy during the summer months).

I've gotten used to the $15 a month for MMO's and if it keeps my interest I don't mind paying it as long as they keep developing content and get on bugs quickly.

Zed will most likely be playing as well but he may be busy in the early days of the games release so we will probably need to start looking for a leader with the interest and the time to "hit the ground running". Any volunteers?

Received an invite for the stress test beta weekend (2/7-2/10).  In the email they state:
Bring your friends!  Additional Beta Keys available now at Curse.com.  Spread the word and quest with your friends.

I think this will pretty much determine if I buy/subscribe or not.  I plan on using Swett as toon name in case anyone else gets an invite.

In the hypothetical situation I would be invited for a beta test weekend - say from from Friday, February 7th at 12:00PM EST until Monday, February 10th at 11:59PM EST - I would probably participate.   :D

I would totally play the beta if I was invited. I would hope I have time to do so as well.

Decided that my next fantasy MMO would be ESO...Now I just need to decide how much I want to spend on the pre-order. Hoping to be able to justify the DIGITAL IMPERIAL EDITION.
